How This Book Came To Be
Some time ago I was asked to read some of my poetry at the Columbus Literary Guild. Not knowing exactly what type of material they would need, I decided to include all my stories in one document. Little did I realize that I had enough writings to make a complete book. I have always been fond of a humerous piece called "Anxieties In The Outhouse" and that's how the title developed.
I found the outhouse in Gallia County where I grew up and photographed it on my next visit.
Dedication
Dedicated to my mother who always let me know how much I was loved, to my daughters, Cheryl and Heather, who have inspired me to write about them and to my grandparents, Cora Mae and Edward P. McGee. My thanks to Dean and Jane Cockrill, the best neighbors in the world who furnished me with outdoor subjects and crops to photograph. I would also like to dedicate this book to the Appalachian people with hope they all remember their roots. Lastly, to the ghosts of the past who pester me during the night to arise and write their stories. Now, perhaps we can get some peace!
